So this morning I conqured another one of my cooking fears and that is deep frying (yeah health wasn't on the mind this morning when we woke up). I found a recipe on pinterest that showed how to make doughnuts out of a can of rolls that you buy at the grocery market I thought it was interesting so I did just that.

Vegetable Oil
1 can of biscuits (non flaky kind)
1 tbsp cinnamon
1/2 c sugar

Pour 1/2 inch oil into a dutch oven or a large skillet and heat it on the stove over high heat. (I actually didn't have either one of these though, so I just used a large pot.)

A trick I learned from my Mormon Mommy, you know when the oil is ready when you flick a couple drops of water at it and it starts to make loud cracking noises.

Open the rolls and seperate them all.

With a soda bottle top, or something of equal size, make holes in the middle of the roll, save the middle for mini doughnut holes if you like.

Mix together the cinnamon and sugar.

Once oil is ready, place the doughnuts in the oil.

Cook for about 90 seconds on each side, until golden brown.

Remove them from the oil and place them on a wire rack to cool for about a minute.

Once cool enough to handle dip both sides in the cinnamon sugar mixture.

Then place back on wire cooling rack until they're ready to serve.

Repeat until all dough is used.

  4. We actually don't have a deep fryer either, we just put oil in a large pot,l it worked like a charm! But... We're going to Idaho this weekend for our new twin nieces baby blessings but definitely lets get together the next weekend! We feel bad about skipping out on you guys last time!
