Our Spring Bucket List

If you're wondering why there has been such a lack of "family" posts over here on this blog that I once thought was to be a major representation of what my family actually did, instead of what I wear and what we eat... It's because Derek has been in the midst of what will be the hardest semester of his undergrad career. Meaning, we haven't had much fun at all for the last 16 weeks. Each Saturday, Derek wakes up and heads to his empty office to do homework for a straight 6-8 hours so that Jay and I cannot distract him. He also works 40 hours a week, and does homework on weeknights too! This semester has just been crazy.

But this week, this glorious week, something amazing happens. Derek will have all his finals finished by Thursday night, and we will have two whole weeks of no school! That is T-W-O, TWO, 2, TO, TOO, WHOLE WEEKS. We have quite the bucket list of things planned to do in the next two weeks and I could not be more excited to have some good ole' Flammily Fun!

Derek and I wanted to get a head start on the fun this past weekend since he just has finals left. Saturday we headed to Jordan Lake State Park again and spent 4+ hours outside in the amazing spring sun! It was 80+ degrees, Derek got a sun burn, I got a tan, and Jay has the most adorable baby tan lines right now! we swam in the lake, played in the sand, and hung out with some of our bestest friends, Julia and Ryan, and their son Dylan. I'm going to be lost when they move in August.

Jay was so funny at the beach. He hates the feeling of sand on his bare feet and for the first hour he just sat on his towel and played with a toy. Eventually he got brave and went in the water with dad, and then eventually stepped on the sand, reluctantly of course. But it was such a good day!

I can't wait to see what fun the next two weekends are going to bring! We have tickets for the Durham Bulls game next Saturday and I can't wait!
