My Green Smoothie Recipe

A month ago I realized that my toddler got way more fruits and veggies in his diet in 24 hours than I ever came close to, and I wanted that to change. I'm really terrible at abiding by the 5-A-Day fruit and veggie rule, but having a green smoothie with breakfast every morning has helped me to hit the mark every day!

While smoothies have been going great for me everyday so far, my blender situation is terrible. We're currently using a second hand blender that someone at church was giving away for free. It's an old Walmart one that doesn't have any buttons and just one switch that moves up and down. This generally results in me having to take the lid off, mush things around for a second, and then try again. Repeat process 2-3 times. It's getting annoying to say the very least. This has put me in the market for a new blender. Which one do you love?

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups spinach
1/2 cup orange juice
1 banana
1/4 cup oatmeal
1 cup frozen fruit mix
1 heaping tablespoon vanilla yogurt

Directions:
Put spinach and OJ in blender first, and then add all the other ingredients. Blend until smooth, serves 1.

  1. I love green smoothies! I've never tried using oatmeal in one before, so I'll have to give that a try!

  2. You need a blend tec. Sold our kitchen table to get one. Purchased at costco. They are about 400.00 but may be cheaper now. I use mine everyday. Worth every penny to invest in one. I don't like vita mix as much as blend tec. You can also use your blend tec for making everything including ice cream. I had a ostler blender and threw it away. Horrible and useless. Get a blend tec.

  3. I'm obsessed with my vitamix. I use it at least once a day but more often then not 2-3 times a day. It's quick and easy to clean. I used to have a ninja, but it doesn't compare to the vitamix. Although it is quite a bit cheaper if you don't want to spend as much and still does the job okay.

  4. I have a BlendTec (it was my one Christmas gift last year), and it's excellent. Although I still have my cheap-y blender too for when I make salad dressing - the BlendTec is just too big to do a tiny amount.

  6. We love our Ninja blender, it rocks! I've never heard of adding oatmeal to a smoothie before, what an interesting way to get some grain into that smoothie! Thanks for joining us at The Yuck Stops Here recipe link party this week. I have stumbled and pinned this and hope you will bring another amazing dish to the party next week for us to enjoy. HUGS

  7. I've been taking Green drink for quite some time and it has significantly reduces the downtime and the strength of the illness. I cannot say enough good things about it, because even though I try to consistently exercise and eat healthy, it is not always possible.
