Homemade Bread in One Hour

I've heard a lot of gimmicks all over the internet for quick homemade bread. Most of them are lies. I fell for the trap of homemade bread in 5 minutes a day, which really is only 5 minutes a day if you've already spent three hours the first day making the dough and then have it ready for you in the fridge. This recipe I saw on Pinterest, and tweaked it just a little, but it really was start to finish, about an hour. Which is a lot better than the typical 2-3 hour commitment that most bread recipes call for.

Ingredients:
5 1/4 cups bread flour
3 tbsp sugar
1 1/2 tbsp saf-instant yeast
1 1/2 tbsp oil
2 cups warm water

Directions:
In the bowl of a mixer mix together the dry ingredients. Add the wet ingredients to the dry and then mix for one minute. The dough should be really wet, so if it feels too dry after a minute add a little more water and then mix for three more minutes. Spray work surface with cooking spray and knead out the dough for a minute. Divide the dough and shape it into two loaves and place on a large greased cookie sheet. Cover and let rise for 25 minutes. Preheat oven to 350°. Once bread is done rising, bake in the oven for 25 minutes or until golden brown (mine took 30).

  1. This sounds like something I could do! I love the idea of making homemade bread but all the recipes I've seen use a bread maker which I don't have. It looks so good!
