If you're looking for a list of Kristin Hannah's best books to add to your TBR list, I highly recommend you start with these seven books. They are perfectly wrenching in only a way that Kristin Hannah can do!
Kristin Hannah's Best Books:
Kristin Hannah has always been popular, but in recent years with new releases such as The Women, and The Four Winds, she has been taking best seller lists by storm. I have read six of her books in the last few years, mostly with my book club, and I honestly haven't found one of her books yet to be anything less than a knock out.
Some of her older works are less known and popular, and I can't speak for those, but as for the books she's written in the last 15-20 years, I would say you really cannot go wrong! These six books I have found mesmerizing, and heartbreaking all at the same time, which I've come to accept is what I actually want from Kristin Hannah each and every time.
Kristin Hannah's Top 7 Best Books:
The Women
Set during the Vietnam War, The Women follows Frances “Frankie” McGrath, a young nursing student who impulsively joins the Army Nurse Corps after her brother is deployed overseas. What begins as an act of patriotism becomes a life-altering journey as Frankie experiences the horrors of war firsthand and later struggles to find her place in a country that often overlooks the sacrifices of women who served. Heartbreaking, powerful, and unforgettable, this may be Kristin Hannah’s most emotional novel yet.The Four Winds
Set during the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl of the 1930s, The Four Winds tells the story of Elsa Martinelli, a woman who must fight to save her family when drought, poverty, and relentless hardship threaten everything she has built. Forced to leave her Texas farm behind, Elsa embarks on a dangerous journey to California in search of a better future. This sweeping historical novel is both a testament to human resilience and a poignant reminder of the sacrifices parents make for their children. The Nightingale
One of Kristin Hannah’s most beloved novels, The Nightingale follows two sisters in Nazi-occupied France during World War II. While one sister quietly endures the occupation to protect her family, the other risks everything by joining the French Resistance. Through courage, sacrifice, and impossible choices, Hannah delivers an unforgettable story about the often-overlooked role women played during the war.Between Sisters
Between Sisters explores the complicated relationship between Meghann and Claire Dontrell, two sisters whose lives have taken very different paths. When long-buried family secrets and old wounds resurface, they are forced to confront the pain that has kept them apart for years. Filled with emotion, forgiveness, and redemption, this novel beautifully captures the complexities of sisterhood. The Things We Do For Love
After experiencing devastating personal loss, Angela DeSaria finds herself questioning the life she thought she would have. Returning to her childhood home, she slowly begins rebuilding her future while forming unexpected connections that challenge her understanding of love, family, and healing. This deeply emotional novel examines grief, hope, and the different ways a family can be formed.Winter Garden
When their distant father dies, sisters Meredith and Nina Whitson finally begin to unravel the mystery surrounding their emotionally guarded mother. Through a haunting fairy tale she tells them, they uncover a heartbreaking story rooted in wartime Russia that changes everything they thought they knew about their family. Richly layered and emotionally devastating, Winter Garden is one of Kristin Hannah’s most memorable and moving novels. The Great Alone
Set in the rugged wilderness of Alaska in the 1970s, The Great Alone follows thirteen-year-old Leni Allbright as her family seeks a fresh start off the grid. As the harsh Alaskan winter closes in, her father’s increasingly unstable behavior creates dangers far greater than the wilderness surrounding them. Equal parts coming-of-age story, survival tale, and family drama, this novel is gripping, atmospheric, and impossible to put down.Any books from Kristin Hannah that you love that didn't make my list?
