Birthday Cake Milkshake

August is the month of birthdays in our house. Last week we celebrated Jay turning three. Next week we celebrate Em turning one, and finally, and few days after that, we'll celebrate me turning 24. This is where you gasp at the fact that yes, I did have two children by the age of 22. Naturally since all these birthdays are upon us, tasty desserts are at the forefront of my mind. Because we have some many celebrations close together, it's hard for me to want to get the same birthday cake from the grocery store three weeks in a row.

For Jay's birthday we did cake because he was very demanding about having a chocolate cake, with chocolate frosting, with chocolate sprinkles (is he my child or what?). For my birthday, I know I'll be wanting donuts because... donuts. For Em though, she still can't chew solid foods very well, so we're planning on throwing her an ice cream party! This birthday cake milkshake is delicious, and festive, and any brand spanking new one-year-old would love to sip on it. Plus there is only four ingredients so it's super easy to make.

I love when I get the oppertuity to work with brands that I literally grew up eating all the time. It was a real treat to head to Publix last week to grab some Breyers® French Vanilla ice cream, and a Sara Lee® Pound Cake, because Breyers ice cream was always the brand of choice in our house growing up. I love that Breyers doesn't use milk and cream from cows treated with artificial growth hormones*, and I love that Sara Lee's pound cakes are a great time-saving solution whenever you need a sweet treat.

Take advantage of $3.00 off any ONE (1) Sara Lee® Frozen Dessert 9.6-30 oz. and Breyers® Ice Cream 48 oz. (combined purchase required) now through 8/28/15 at your local Publix while supplies last.

Ingredients:
Sara Lee All Butter Pound Cake
Breyers French Vanilla Ice Cream
2 Tablespoons Sprinkles
Whole Milk
Chocolate Syrup
Whipped Cream

Directions:
Thaw pound cake according to package directions. Line the rim of a 16oz mason jar with chocolate syrup, and then dip the rim of the glass in sprinkles. Fill the mason jar 3/4 full with ice cream, and then the other 1/4 full with milk. Stir the mixture together so that it is all blended together and a thick creamy consistency. You can also do this step in the blender if you choose.

Then dice up some pound cake into tiny bite size pieces. Stir in the desired amount, a long with 2 tablespoons of sprinkles into your milkshake. Top with desired amount of whipped cream, and an optional straw and strawberry for garnish.

  4. That looks incredibly delicious! My favorite kind of shake is a root beer float, with coca cola and ice cream. Nowdays I try to stay in shape so its rare that I'll have something like that, but I used to love that stuff when I was a kid.
